MSNBC Analyst Compares Trump Supporters to a ‘Terrorist Organization’

MSNBC analyst Frank Figliuzzi compared supporters of President Trump to members of a terrorist organization while speaking on the network this week.

Figliuzzi expressed his belief on Monday’s Deadline: White House that the current administration should be viewed through the “lens of radicalization” and suggested a commonality between the mentality behind Trump’s supporters’ defense of the president and the structure of a terrorist organization.

Fill-in anchor Chris Jansing said, “I think one of the things, Frank Figliuzzi, is that this president has always, from anyone who was around him, Anthony Scaramucci knows this as well as anybody else, demanded this blind loyalty, right? ‘I say it, it must be so.

Or even if you don’t think it’s so, you don’t criticize me for it.'”

“Well, this is why it’s so important to look through the lens of radicalization when you look at this president and then apply counter-radicalization techniques.

Because you’re right, attacking his followers is going to be counterproductive,” Figliuzzi answered.

Figliuzzi continued, “He demands that loyalty and they are loyal. So if you call Trump followers racist en masse, they simply coalesce around each other and become even more defensive and protective of the leader, just as they would in, say, a terrorist organization to compare to the radicalization.”

Figliuzzi made headlines earlier this month, when he accused President Trump of sending a message, either intentional or not, to white nationalists in regards to him ordering the flags to fly at half-staff to honor those who were killed in mass shootings in Dayton, Ohio, and El Paso, Texas.

Figliuzzi’s basis for the claim was the fact that Trump ordered the flags to be raised on Aug. 8, also 8/8, which means “Heil Hitler” to white supremacists because “H” is the eighth letter of the alphabet.
